Hindu Mandir & Cultural Center

In January 2007, Hindu Mandir & Cultural Center started functioning at a private home with weekly poojas with tremendous support from Tuscaloosa and surrounding Hindu communities’ participation. Within a couple of months, more than $120,000 of donations were raised and the temple was able to acquire a debt-free property with two acres of land including a house. Since October 2007, the temple operations have moved to temple’s property on Culver Road. With this relocation, people’s participation has significantly increased including Gujarati Samaj having a monthly bhajan meetings and Indian students’ participation from the University of Alabama. As of February 2008, the two-car garage that existed as a stand-alone structure was converted into a library and a classroom for the children. Weekly pooja starts around 11 AM every Sunday.
